Fact check any claim online, free
Type one claim and get a source-backed verdict: Supported, Contradicted, Mixed or Insufficient evidence. No guesswork, and every statement links to the evidence behind it.
Claims you can fact check
Anything stated as a fact: statistics, quotes, dates, health and science claims, historical statements, and claims about companies or public figures. Opinions and predictions are flagged as not checkable rather than forced into a verdict.
Tips for better results
- Check one claim at a time when you can. Short, specific sentences work best.
- Include the names, numbers and dates from the original statement.
- For a long post, paste the whole text and let VeriTrace split it into claims.
- Open the cited sources. The report is a starting point, not a final ruling.
How the verdict is decided
A claim is Supported when at least two independent credible sources back it and none credible contradict it. It is Contradicted when credible independent sources contradict it. It is Mixed when credible sources disagree. Everything else is Insufficient evidence. See the full rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fact check a quote or a statistic?
Yes. Include who said it, or where the number comes from, and VeriTrace will look for matching sources.
What does “Insufficient evidence” mean?
The tool did not find enough credible, independent sources to decide. It is not a hidden “false”.
Is this just a chatbot answer?
No. The AI never decides truth from memory. Verdicts come from fixed rules applied to sources retrieved at the moment you ask.
How many fact checks do I get per day?
7 per day on the free plan, plus 50 bonus checks for each friend who joins through your invite link.
